Lucy’s mother kept a box of baby clothes for nearly thirty years — tiny things Lucy wore as an infant, folded and saved. When Lucy became a mother herself, her mother gave her the box for Estelle to wear. That act of keeping is what Firstworn is built on.
Firstworn is named for the idea that your child is just the first person to wear it. Made to outlast one childhood and be ready for the next. Lucy, Will, and their daughter Estelle are all firstborns. Three firsts. The name felt inevitable.
Every piece is cut and sewn by hand in Pittsburgh from ethically sourced fabric. Some of the thread and notions came from Lucy’s grandmother’s sewing kit. Three generations of hands in every seam.
Made in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — a city with its own relationship to making. Not incidental, and not trying to be anything else.
